Youth Olympic Games: Indian women’s hockey team defeat Uruguay 2-1

Buenos Aires, Oct 9 (IESports) India Under-18 women’s hockey team registered 2-1 victory against Uruguay continuing its winning momentum in the ongoing Youth Olympic Games of the Hockey 5s competition here.
On Monday night, Lalremsiami scored a brace to keep continue her goal-scoring form. On the other hand, Uruguay’s only goal came from Magdalena Verga.

The Indian team dominated the first period. Mumtaz Khan scored a goal in the ninth minute of the game, but it was disallowed by the referee.

Uruguay’s goalkeeper Victoria Bate saved 13 times in the match, India played 15 shorts on the target.
However, the second period India played aggresively as they were looking for a win. The second instance was the one which brought India their second and match’s last goal as Lalremsiami popped up again in the 19th minute to snatch a 2-1 win for her team.

Earlier, India defeated Austria 4-2 to start their campaign on a winning note.
They next face Vanuatu on Wednesday in their third game.
