New York, Oct 17 (IENews) US Secretary Pompeo will travel to Ankara on October 17 to meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Cavusoglu to welcome the decision to release Pastor Andrew Brunson.
Brunson, who was embroiled in a Turkish-U.S. diplomatic dispute. He was released to house arrest after almost two years in jail. The pastor, who was accused of terror-related charges, was convicted Friday yet released from custody for time served.
The Secretary will also discuss the Jamal Khashoggi case and reiterate the U.S. offer to assist Turkey in its investigation. Khashoggi entered the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul after which he has not been found for several days.
