Washington, Mar 1 (IECurrentAffairs) The US government is offering $1 million for information on the whereabouts of Al-Qaeda terrorist group emerging leader Hazma bin Laden, the State Department said in a press release.
“The US Department of State’s Rewards for Justice Program is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to the identification or location in any country of al-Qaeda key leader Hamza bin Laden,” the release said on Thursday. “Hamza bin Laden is the son of deceased former AQ leader Osama bin Laden and is emerging as a leader in the AQ franchise.”
Hamza bin Laden, the release added, over the past four years has released audio and video messages across the internet urging followers to launch attacks against the United States for killing his father.
Earlier in the day, US Assistant Secretary for Diplomatic Security Michael Evanoff told reporters that the United States believes the terrorist has been hiding out near the Afghan-Pakistani border although he could also try to find sanctuary in Iran.
