New Delhi, Nov 29 (IECurrentAffairs) A large number of farmers, led by Swaraj India President Yogendra Yadav and Avik Saha of Jai Kisan Andolan, took to the streets in Delhi on Thursday, asking for freedom from debts and fair price for their produce.
The two-day ‘Kisan Mukti March’ has been organised by the All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC).
Earlier in the morning, Mr Yadav tweeted, “Women farmers greet us this morning from Brijwasan as they are all set to embark on Kisan Mukti March. Join us even if you are not a farmer. Join the hands that toil to feed us.”Jai Kisan!
The main agitation began from Bijwasan, while other places in the national capital also witnessed ryots from across the nation, heading towards the Ramlila Maidan.
Peasants from West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan are expected to join this protest.
As per the supporters, many farmers are on their way to Ramila Maidan from various parts of the country, and are likely to head towards Parliament on Friday.
