Berlin Nov 5 (IESports) India’s Subhankar Dey thrashed Rajiv Ouseph of Britain to clinch the SaarLorLux Open Super 100 Badminton tournament at Saarbrucken in Germany on Sunday.
In a one sided final match, Dey beat Ouseph in straight games 21-11, 21-14 to complete his dominance in the tournament.
The 25-year-old Indian, who was unseeded in the tournament, took just 33-minute to win against fifth-seeded Ouseph. It was the first encounters between the two players.
This is Subhankar’s first title of this year. Earlier in March, he finished runner-up in the Kabal International tournament at the Czech Republic.
In semi-finals, he stunned two-time Olympic gold medallist China’s Lin Dan in straight sets. Then, he got the better of Britain’s Toby Penty to cruise into the last-four stage.
In Saturday’s semifinal, world No 64 Subhankar saved two match points against China’s Ren Pengbo to win 21-18, 11-21, 24-22 and book his berth in final.
