Students’ Parliament Competition organised

Panaji, Feb 26 (IECurrentAffairs) Goa Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Pramod Sawant has said that inculcating leadership qualities among students faculty was the main idea behind organizing Students` Parliament Competition wherein youth could learn and adapt the importance of social service.

Speaking at a prize distribution function of Students` Parliament Competition 2019, organized by Goa Legislature Secretariat in association with Goa Legislators Forum held on Monday at Assembly Complex Porvorim near the city, he said,’Not only good oratory qualities will make a person good leader but his sheer dedication towards society will make him leader of mass. Students` Parliament is one of the initiatives to nurture that zeal in every youth.’

V M Salgaokar College of Law, Miramar, won first prize, whereas DM`s College and Research Centre, Mapusa, won second Prize and P E S College of Arts and Science, Farmagudi, Ponda stood on third place in the competition.

Durga Desai from Government College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Sanquelim, won award for Best Prime Minister. Best Speaker award was won by S B Chengalvarayan from V M Salgaokar College of Law, Miramar. Mayuresh Gurav from DM`s College and Research Centre, Mapusa, was awarded for Best Leader of Opposition. Rajlaxmi Bhatkar from V M Salgaokar College of Law, Miramar, received award for Best Parliamentarian. Shripad Merchant and Girish Abhyankar received award for Best Coordinator (Teacher).

Present on the occasion were Victor Gonsalves, Vice President, Goa Legislators Forum, Sadanand Malik, Treasurer, Mohan Amshekar Secretary, Ferral Furtado, Member, Goa Legislators Forum, N B Subhedar, Secretary Goa Legislature Assembly, Deepak Bhosale, staff of Goa Legislature Secretariat and others.
