Anantnag, Oct 26 (IENews) In a shocking incident, pelting of stones by some anti-forces protestors in Anantnag, South Kashmir led to the death of a soldier of the Quick Reaction Team (QRT)
This is for the first time that a soldier has died due to stone pelting, in Kashmir valley.
He said Sepoy Rajendra Singh, (22), was part of a QRT, which was providing security (protection) to a Border Roads Organisation (BRO) convoy on Thursday. The convoy came under stone pelting at 1800 hrs at Anantnag bypass tri-juction.
Singh was injured after being hit by a stone directly on the head, Col Rajesh Kalia said.
He said the injured was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital, but unfortunately, succumbed to the injury.
Sep Singh hailed from village Badena in Pithoragarh, Uttrakhand and had joined Army in 2016. He is survived by his parents.
The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the families of the brave hearts and remains committed to their dignity and well-being, the Spokesperson added.
