Panjim, Sep 29 (IENews) Casinos will continue to be stationed on the Mandovi River as the Parrikar-led government has decided to allow an extension of the off-shore operations by six months.
This move continues to raise questions on Parrikar’s pre-election anti-casino stand , which now appears to be seen as continuous acts of U-Turns offering extensions to Casino operators time and again by anti-casino activists in the state.
Senior Minister in the BJP-led alliance government in Goa, Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar on Saturday confirmed that the state cabinet has given six month extension to off-shore casinos to continue their operations in River Mandovi.
Speaking to GoaChronicle.com, Dhavlikar, “The decision was taken by the state cabinet via circulation of files. The note was moved through circulation to all the Ministers, who signed it.”
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has also signed the cabinet note. There were six issues on which decisions were taken, including decision of giving extension to off-shore casinos,” he said.
He said it was decided that the ministers would meet every Wednesday at the Secretariat. It would not be a cabinet meeting but just a meeting to discuss some points, he added.
Parrikar could not attend the meeting, as he is currently at AIIMS New Delhi undergoing medical treatment.
