Security in Pondy tightened due to anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition

Puducherry, Dec 5 (IECurrentAffairs) Security has been tightened in Puducherry in the wake of the anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid on Thursday.

Security is being strengthened in important places like Railway station, bus stand, cinema houses, hotels and lodges where people used to gather.

Police is conducting thorough checks at hotels to find out the identity of those checked in the hotel and lodge owners were advised to inform if any stranger checks-in.

All vehicles entering Puducherry are being checked at all borders while, the coastal police are taking care of the coastal areas to ensure that there is no intrusion through sea.

Fishermen are advised to inform the police immediately, if, they find any strangers in their areas.

Meanwhile, the left parties in the Union Territory would observe December 6 as ‘secularism and constitution protection’ day.

CPI State secretary Saleem in a statement said that the left parties would organize a conference near the Swadeshi cotton mills here in which CPI National Secretary K Narayana, G Ramakrishnan of CPI(M) and among others would take part.
