Rohingya family of five detained in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 3 (IENews) The Kerala State Police has detained a five-member family of the ethnic group of Myanmar’s Rakhine province.

India Intelligence has alerted the Kerala Police that a huge number of Rohingya refugees will coming to the state to find refuge.

The police took the custody of the Rohingya family, who reached Vizhinjam from the Central Railway Station here where they arrived in Hyderabad-Trivandrum Sabari Express on Monday night, police sources said.

The family including two children were identified as Tayub (35), his wife Safia Kathum (27), their six-month old child, Tayub’s brother Irshad (25) and Safia’s brother Anvarsha (11).

The members of family, except the children, were holding the refugee cards issued in Hyderabad by UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
