Panaji, Nov 8 (IECurrentAffairs) Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said that religious gatherings would be exempted from implementation of Section 144 CrPC which has been imposed throughout the state, in view of the upcoming Ayodhya verdict by the Supreme Court.
Speaking to reporters at the Legislative Assembly complex at Porvorim, near the city, he said all the religious events would be exempted from the purview of the Section.
His response was responding to queries of reporters relating to relaxation for upcoming Catholic prayer services popularly called ‘novenas’ and other festivities.
An order issued by the state administration has said that Section 144 would stay imposed in the coastal state for a month.
Meanwhile, Congress has put on hold its protests over attempts made by Karnataka to divert water from the Mhadei river basin.
