New Delhi, Oct 1 (UNI) The wife of legendary Raj Kapoor and eldest member of the Kapoor Family, Krishna Raj Kapoor died on Monday morning, the Kapoor family said.
She was 87.
The eldest member of the Kapoor Family, Krishna Raj Kapoor, the mother of five children – Randhir Kapoor, Ritu Kapoor Nanda, Rishi Kapoor, Rima Kapoor Jain and Rajiv Kapoor and the grandmother of Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Armaan Jain, Nikhil Nanda, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, Natasha Nanda and Aadar Jain, died at 0400 hours on Monday.
In a statement , eldest son Randhir Kapoor said,”I regret to announce that I lost my mother early this morning. She died peacefully.”
Randhir Kapoor said that the last rites will be performed at Chembur Crematorium.
Raj Kapoor married Krishna Malhotra in May 1946, and the couple had five children — three sons, Randhir, Rishi and Rajiv, and two daughters, Ritu and Rima.
She was the sister of renowned actors Rajendra Nath, Prem Nath and Narendra Nath. Her sister Uma is married to veteran actor Prem Chopra.
Riddhima Kapoor instagrammed two posts featuring her grandmother in which she wrote: “I love you… I will always love you – RIP dadi.”
Bollywood celebrities, including actors Raveena Tandon , Soha Ali Khan, Anupam Kher
Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan and filmmakers msadhur Bhandarkar, karan Johar and Farah Khan offered condolences to the Kapoor Family.

Condoling the death of Mrs Krishna Kapoor, Soha said, ‘I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Krishna RajKapoor The few times I interacted with her were so memorable; she was an incredible personality full of life and passion and with never a hair out place! She will be missed greatly. My deepest condolences to the family.’
‘Deeply saddened to learn about the sad demise of Smt Krishna Raj Kapoor Ji. She was one of the most dignified and affectionate ladies that I met. May her soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Kapoor and Nanda family. Om Shanti,’Anupam Kher said.
Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar also condoled the death.

Condoling her death, filmmaker Karan Johar said,’The embodiment of grace…of dignity …of elegance and of strength….Krishna aunty will always be the First Lady of the Film Fraternity…the most generous, kind and gentle person I have ever known with the most terrific sense of humour…will miss you Krishna aunty.’
Megastar Aamir Khan posted a condolence message on his Twitter handle saying, Krishnaji was an institution in living life.
‘If Raj Kapoor was an institution in film making, Krishnaji was an institution in living life.
A very sad loss to all of us.My love and warmth to Randhirji, Rishiji, Chimpuji, Reema, Rituji and everyone in the family. We love you Krishnaji,’ Aamir said.
