Rahul should not politicise what transpired in his meeting with Goa CM: Mauvin Godinho

Panaji, Jan 30 (IECurrentAffairs) Goa Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godhinho on Wednesday said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi should not politicise what transpired in his one-to-one meeting with Goa Chief Minister Minister Manohar Parrikar in the spirit of civil courtesy.

Speaking to reporters at the Assembly Complex at Porvorim, near the city, he said, “When we extend civil courtesies to each other, we may belong to different political parties, it should remain at that. One should not get politics in it. Now if big leaders start getting politics into such things also, I think it is not the right thing to do.”

Mr Godinho, who also holds Protocol portfolio, said,”One should realise that when you come to enquire about a person’s health, it should be limited to that. He should not try to capitalise that and say something to the contrary, because like that when meetings take place one to one between two people, so many things can be said about each other.”

The Congress President had paid a surprise visit to the Assembly Complex at Porvorim on Tuesday, during which me met his party MLAs as well as Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. Though he did not speak to waiting media persons, later he tweeted,”This morning I visited Goa CM, Manohar Parrikar, to wish him a speedy recovery. It was a personal visit.”

However, same day addressing party workers at Kochi in Kerala, Mr Gandhi reportedly said that Mr Parrikar had told him that he had nothing to do with Rafale deal.
