Islamabad, Nov 14 (IECurrentAffairs) The government of Pakistan and Canada are in talks with each other to work towards a solution to provide ‘political asylum’ to Asia Bibi.
The confirmation of talks between the two governments on the issue came after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday said his government was talking to Pakistan over potentially offering asylum to Asia Bibi.
“We are in discussions with the Pakistani government,” Trudeau had said in an interview to AFP in Paris.
“There is a delicate domestic context that we respect which is why I don’t want to say any more about that, but I will remind people Canada is a welcoming country,” he said.
