Panaji, Jan 24 (IECurrentAffairs) Goa Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Sudin Dhavalikar on Thursday announced that Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate third bridge over river Mandovi in the city on January 27, 2019.
Addressing a press conference at PWD Head Office at Altinho in the city, he said the bridge would be inaugurated at 1930 hrs on January 27 and on January 29 it would be thrown open for the people.
He said two and three wheelers would not be allowed to ply on the bridge.
The bridge was to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi earlier this month but was postponed due to National Executive of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone of the bridge on June 14, 2014.
Mr Dhavalikar said the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) Chairman Deepak Pauskar, Vice Chairman Siddarth Kuncaliencar, Revenue Minister Rohan Khaunte, other ministers and MLAs, among others, would remain present in the inauguration function.
