Washington, Oct 9 (IENews) US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has resigned and US President Donald Trump has accepted the resignation, US media reported.
The former South Carolina governor’s exit has reportedly came as a surprise to Trump administration officials.
CNBC reported that speaking from the Oval Office on Tuesday, Haley said she had no “personal reasons” for leaving but felt someone else should take the role after she served eight “intense” years in South Carolina and at the UN.
“I think it’s just very important for government officials to know when to step aside,” she said.
She became US Ambassador to the UN in January 2017
