Nigerian held in Goa for illegally overstaying in Goa

Panaji, Sep 26 (UNI) Calangute Police in North Goa have arrested a 29-year-old Nigerian for allegedly overstatying in Goa with passport and visa.

According to Jivba Dalvi, Incharge of Calangute Police Station, police staff while on patrolling in the evening at Baga noticed one foreign national, Promise Nkwachuku (29), moving.

Accordingly, police inquired with the Nigerian about his Passport and Visa. However, the accused person failed to provide any travel document or any other details.

Upon interrogation he was placed under arrest under section 3(2)(a) and 6(a) of Passport Entry into India rules, section 3 & 4 of Passport Entry Act 1920 and sec 7(3)(iii) of Fioreigners Order Act R/w sec 14 of Foreigners Act 1946.

The foreigners branch was informed about the arrest to intimate the embassy and the accused was remanded to 14 days of Judicial Custody.

Further investigation was in progress, Mr Dalvi said.
