Modi arrives in Gujarat for three-day visit

Ahmedabad, Jan 17 (IECurrentAffairs) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday arrived here on a three-day visit to his home state Gujarat, to inaugurate Vibrant Gujarat summit and participate in various events across the state.

The ninth edition of flagship bi-annual global investors summit Vibrant Gujarat will commence from 18 -20 January.

The Prime Minister arrived at SVBPI Airport in Ahmedabad at 1355 hrs in a special IAF aircraft. Gujarat Governor O P Kohli, state Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister M Nitin Patel, Gujarat BJP president Jeetu Vaghani, Ahmedabad Mayor Bijalben Patel and Chief Secretary J N Singh welcomed Mr Modi.

Mr Modi soon left for Gandhinagar to inaugurate the Global Trade Show there.

The Prime Minister will return to Ahmedabad and inaugurate the new complex of government run VS hospital as Sardar Patel Institute of Medical Sciences. He would later also declare open the Ahmedabad Shopping festival at riverfront and then return to capital Gandhinagar for night halt at Rajbhavan and various meetings at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit venue Mahatma Mandir and dinner.

On January 18, he will inaugurate the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, which would see the participation of Presidents from two countries, Prime Ministers from four countries and a whole host of business leaders. The event this year has 15 partner countries and 11 international partner organisations.

Mr Modi will also hold meetings with international leaders the same day and participate in a round table meeting and Gala dinner. He will also inaugurate a laser light and sound show at Dandi Kutir near the venue and do his second night stay at Rajbhavan.

He is scheduled to come to Ahmedabad airport on January 19 from where he would fly to Surat to lay the foundation stone of a gun factory in Hazira there and will then to go to nearby union territory city of Silvassa by chopper to inaugurate a medical college there.

Many traffic restriction and diversions have been done in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar in the wake of PM’s visit.
