Mumbai, Nov 30 (IECurrentAffairs) The ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi, comprising Shiv Sena-Nationalist Congress Party-Congress alliance on Saturday proved it’s majority during a Floor Test, held in the one-day session of Maharashtra Assembly here.
The Opposition BJP boycotted the test on the ground that the appointment of Pro-Tem Speaker was illegal.
All the members of BJP left the House, shouting slogans, while 169 Legislators supported the newly-formed coalition government, which included parties like Sena, Congress, NCP, Samajwadi Party and others.
Four Legislators, including two from MIM, one from MNS and one from CPI, abstained from voting.
The proceedings of the House began, after senior NCP leader Dilip Walse Patil took charge as a Pro-Tem Speaker.
Later, he introduced newly-appointed Ministers Chagan Bhujbal, Jayant Patil of NCP, while Balasaheb Thorat and Nitin Raut from Congress.
Soon after the introduction of the Ministers was over, Ashok Chavan of Congress moved a resolution for vote of confidence, while the same was seconded by Nawab Malik.
Later, the Speaker put it for voting and the members, who supported the motion, were counted
