Mah govt’s responsibility to develop Shahu’s mausoleum place :Pawar

Kolhapur, Jan 14 (IECurrentAffairs) Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar has assured that he will meet chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday and suggest to call a meeting to discuss about the ways to make available adequate funds for developing a mausoleum place of Rajashri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj.

While addressing a delegation on Sunday, Mr Pawar said, “It is a responsibility of the state government to develop a mausoleum place of Rajashri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj and I will met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday with suggesting to call a meeting to discuss how to make adequate funds available for this”.

The delegation was led by Kolhapur Mayor, Ms Sarita More and her deputy Me Bhupal Shetye, which met Mr Pawar at Panchsheel hotel for handing over a memorandum with request to take initiative in developing mausoleum place of Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj at Narsari Bag(garden) near Town hall.

Ms More told Mr Pawar that Kolhapur Municipal Corporation(KMC) had made expenditures of Rs 2.87 crore on this work so far and about Rs six crore more would be required to complete the work of this place. The funds from district border committee and from the government are not available so far.

On this ground , Ms More requested Mr Pawar to take initiative to make available more funds from the government when he meets Mr Fadnavis.

Mr Pawar also said the development of Chhatrapati Shahu’s mausoleum, was not only of Kolhapur Municipal Corporation’s responsibility but all of the state and it was responsibility of the state government to make available adequate funds to develop the mausoleum works.

He would suggest Mr Fadnavis to call a meeting next week with KMC delegation to discuss for availability of funds for the development work of mausoleum place.

Along with Ms More and Mr Shetye, Ms Hasina Faras,, firmer mayor, R k Pawar, city NCP president and also former mayor, Adil Faras, Rajesh Latkar, Vasant Mulik, president district Sakal Maratha Samaj, Indrajeet Savant, history researcher and others were also present on this occasion.
