Kerala’s Women Commission registers case against mob for heckling nuns

Kochi, Oct 28 (IENews) Taking suo moto cognisance, Kerala Women’s Commission has filed a case against persons who insulted the four nuns when they attended the funeral of Father Kuriakose Kuttuthara.

Sister Anupama and three other nuns were heckled and shouted at with statements, “You have brought shame to the Catholic Church.”

Commission chairperson MC Josephine registered the case based on media reports that the nuns were humiliated and insulted by some people present at the funeral service.

Fr Kuriakose was a prime witness in the case against Bishop Franco Mulakkal. He was the moral support the nuns fighting for justice.

The priest was found dead in his room a few days after Bishop Franco Mulakkal was granted conditional bail.

Bishop Franco Mulakkal of the Archdiocese of Jalandhar has been accused of raping a nun thirteen times from 2014 and 2016.
