Chennai, Jan 23 (IECurrentAffairs) Defence Minister Ms Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday said India has improved 63 ranks in global ease of doing business rankings.
Speaking after inaugurating the second edition of the Global Investors Meet (GIM) here and unveiling the Aerospace and Defence policy here, she said India was the brightest spark and shining globally.
‘Growth with fiscal prudence is the reason behind with which the economy is managed’, she said and added that systematic reforms were being taken up with courage.
Noting that 64 of the 98 MoUs signed in last GIM held in 2015 were in various stages of getting operational, Ms Nirmala said only to prevent import of defence equipment, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted a defence corridor and Tamil Nadu has one of the two corridors.
She also said Tamil Nadu was the biggest user of wind and solar power in the country and the state is power surplus.
Ms Nirmala said inflation was under control and the biggest reform was implementing GST in the country.
Observing that Tamil Nadu has a balanced economy, she said Tamil Nadu students must learn Korean, Mandarin languages as it would help them to be nimble when they deal with businesses from these countries.
