Panjim, October 14 (IENews) Goa Police on Sunday claimed to have solved murder case of a 24-year-old woman who was found raped and murdered at Dhauji helipad in Old Goa.
They have arrested a 23-year old tenth class drop out in connection with crime
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Premaditya told IndianExpose.com that on October 9, 2018, a dead body of a 24-year-old girl was found at an isolated location at a helipad at Dhauji Tiswadi. After post-mortem examination it was revealed that the deceased was sexually assaulted and murdered by compressing her mouth and neck.
18 police teams were formed under the supervision of SP (North), SP (Crime), SDPO Panaji, SDPO Mapusa and Dy SP Crime to investigate the crime.
The entire area was searched for clues, local sources were activated, all available CCTV footages were viewed and analysed and about 150 persons interogatted and after obtaining a lead the accused Manjunath (23), son of Lingappa Dodamani, resident of Old Goa, was zeroed down and arrested from his residence. The accused had confessed to the commission of the crime.
”The accused, who was known to the deceased, gave her a lift at about 2230 hrs on October 9, 2018, and on the pretext of dropping her to her residence took her to isolated spot at helipad area which is in the vicinity of the residence of the deceased and after sexually assaulting her compressed her mouth and neck resulting in strangulation and after ensuring her death left her at the spot and proceeded to his residence,” he said.
An offence under section 376, 302 of the IPC was registered at Old Goa Police Station, he said, adding further investigation was being conducted by Police Inspector of Old Goa Police
