Goa Govt to sign MoU with Maharashtra to provide health facilities under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Scheme

Panaji, Dec 24 (IECurrentAffairs) The Goa Government will sign an MoU with Maharashtra Government to provide health facilities under Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Scheme in Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital in the state.

In a statement on Monday, Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said he was grateful to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for his intervention for the improved MoU to be signed between the two states this week.

”We will sign the agreement this week. Health Secretary will look into all the details of the agreement. Whoever comes from Maharashtra, he will be covered under the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Scheme. Dean of GMC will be authorised to sign the agreement and we will ensure that the facility begins as soon as possible,” he said.

The Goa Government had started billing patients from outside the state availing treatments at Goa Medical College (GMC) and Hospital as well as at the two district hospitals and sub-district hospitals in the state from January this year.
