Jodhpur, Nov 23 (IECurrentAffairs) The AICC General Secretary Ashok Gehlot has targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling BJP President Amit Shah for spearheading ‘self serving’ religion and caste centric politics in the country that is ‘weakening democratic norms, damaging institutions and also encouraging personal gain based defections’.
Talking to UNI here late Thursday evening, the Rajasthan ex-Chief Minister and a star campaigner of the Congress in his poll-bound home state, said “Two faces (of Modi and Shah) are dictating the politics of the country to its new low using religion and caste, that is also encouraging personal gain focused defections.”
He said “This politics resulting in tearing to shreds the democracy (and it’s norms) and also leading to the present day state of Aapadhapi, where each one is struggling for own-self and switching over (for instant gain)”.
They have not even refrained from provoking people (for the party’s vested interests), Gehlot said adding this was observed in a programme attended by Mr Shah.
Shah, the Chief of a national party, did not hesitate even to call up on people for ‘grabbing by collar’ voter seekers(from opposition) and demand explanation about their work and contribution for the cause of the people, the two timer ex-CM went on saying.
The Congress party does condemn such political approach, he said.
