New Delhi, Oct 9 (IENews) Uttarakhand former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank called on fasting environmentalist Prof G D Agrawal (Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand) at the latter’s ashram in Kankhal-Haridwar on Tuesday to assure him of the Centre’s due action on his demands related to the Ganga.
“The ex-CM conveyed to Swamiji that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has convened cabinet meeting to discuss issues pertaining to Ganga this afternoon, therefore, he (Prof Agrawal) should not go ahead with his resolve to shun water-intake”, ‘Waterman of India’ Dr Rajendra Singh said.
However, Swamiji has reiterated that he would not desist from his programme unless PM himself gives him in writing that his demands would be accepted and acted upon, within the Navratri Puja period, Singh told UNI over telephone.
Prof Agrawal has been on hunger strike in Kankhal-Haridwar since June 22 and he has resolved to shun water intake too, from Wednesday morning.
