Panjim, Oct 21 (IENews) Trouble brewing in the BJP stable in Goa with founding leaders of the party demanding a dismantling of the local core committee unit and removal of the party president Vinay Tendulkar.
The trigger has been the inclusion of Congress leaders based on the decision of few in the core-committee and the BJP high command.
Leading the fight within the party is former chief minister of Goa, Laxmikant Parsekar who speaking to IndianExpose stated, “The strength of BJP is that it is a cadre-based party, we need a person who can strengthen the party. We need a full-time president and full-time organising secretary.”
“Our party president Vinay Tendulkar has been appointed to the Rajya Sabha. He comes to the state over the weekends to work for the party. It is impossible to build the party in that manner. Similarly, Vijay Purnaik who is the organising secretary, also holds the charge of Maharashtra, there is no full focus on Goa.”
Interestingly, BJP being a party that propagates the theory of ‘one person, one post’ appears to be hypocritical in the case of Vinay Tendulkar who holds the Rajya Sabha post and even the party president post.
Dayanand Mandrekar, another core committee members opines that it time to dismantle the core committee and reconstitute the BJP functionaries in the state.
When IndianExpose spoke to Rajendra Arlekar, he stated, “There is a need for a full-time president. Tendulkar currently holds two posts in the party. We need to build the party in the state. We cannot fill the party with leaders coming from other party’s, what happens to our loyal BJP workers.”
Both Parsekar and Arlekar were the founding members of the BJP along with Manohar Parrikar and Shripad Naik in Goa.
