Fire in Kirti nagar furniture market,nearby shanties too gutted

New Delhi, Jan 11 (IECurrentAffairs) A massive blaze which started from a furniture wood raw material store in a building spread to around 100 shanties in the Kirti nagar furniture market on Thursday midnight.

As per fire department sources, a call was received at around 0005 hours that fire broke out at a three storey building that housed wooden raw material.

The fire spread through raw material and timber lying outside and also to the shanties near gutting around 100 of them.

As many as 30 fire brigades were pressed into service to fight the blaze which took more than four hours to get under control, however, the cooling process is still underway.

However, there are no reports of any casualties or injured so far.

The exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Kirti Nagar , one of the furniture hub in the national capital houses large number of big and small furniture stores and also has timber godowns and related furniture making units.
