Odense, Oct 20 (IESports) London Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal and World No six Kidambi Srikanth have stormed into the semi-finals of Denmark Open badminton tournament here.

On Friday, Nehwal defeated Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara 21-17,16-21, 12-21. This match was lasted for 58 minutes.

World No 10 Nehwal lost her first game, but he looked focused and staged a brilliant come back to win the match.

Now, she will face19th ranked Gregoria Mariska Tunjung of Indonesia in semi-finals on Friday.

Earlier in the day, Kidambi Srikanth defeated his compatriot Sameer Verma 22-20,19-21, 23-21 in quarter-finals to set up semi-final match with World No 1 Japan’s Kento Momota on Saturday.

This match lasted for an hour and 18 minutes. In the first game, both the players played brilliant game. At one point, score were 20-20, but Srikanth held his nervous to win the game with two consecutive points.

In the second game too, both players continued to give a tough fight to each other. At mid-break Srikanth was leading the game with paltry two points lead (11-9).

However, Verma didn’t let the game slip away and drew parity at 16-16. He won the game, taking the match into the final game.

In the final game, Verma stayed in the lead for the most part of this game. But Srikanth held his nerves and first leveled the scores (18-18) and went on to win the match.

Before this match, Srikanth defeated Chinese great Lin Dan in quarter-finals for the first time in four years. It was his second win over two-time Olympic champion Dan.
