Dead body goes missing in Goa Medical College

Panjim, Sept 30, (IENews) Goa’s Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has ordered a probe after a body of a 24-year-old youth went missing on Saturday from the mortuary of the Goa Medical College (GMC).

The the family of the deceased — Yanush Gonsalves, 24, were in for a shock when they were informed that morgue officials could not trace the body.

In a message to the Founder & Editor-in-Chief of IndiaExpose, Rane stated, “Dr Edmundo Rodrigues – Head of the Forensic Medicine & Toxicology department, erroneously disposed off his body along with other unclaimed bodies without any prior verification or notice.”

Rane further expressed, that this is an absolute irresponsible behaviour from the head of department and I won’t tolerate any such cruel behaviour, regardless of the designation.

“Dr Edmundo, without proper verification exchanged Januz’s body with Vishant Naik’s body which was languishing in the morgue since July 30, 2018,” the Goa Health minister informed.

Rane has also confirmed that a FIR has been registered against Dr Edmundo, Machindranath Jalmi – Junior Technician and Prakash Narvekar – Post Mortem Attendant.
