New Delhi, Nov 01 (IENews) Delhi’s Patiala Court today extended interim protection of Union Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram from arrest till November 26 in an alleged Aircel Maxis money laundering case.
The case was filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) and Directorate of Enforcement(ED).
The next hearing of the case is now on November 26.
The Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday opposed in a Delhi court the anticipatory bail plea of P Chidambaram in the Aircel-Maxis money laundering case and sought his custodial interrogation.
CBI Special Judge O P Saini after hearing the matter passed an order to extension of the interim protection from arrest to former Union Minister P Chidambaram.
In this matter CBI is Investigating how P Chidambaram, who was Union Finance Minister in 2006 granted a Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval to a Foreign Firm when only the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) was empowered to do it.
