A Request from Congress to prepare a report on the deal was previously asked to CAG

New Delhi, Sep 24 (IENews) : An All India Congress Committee (AICC) delegation on Monday met with Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) & demanded to register a case on the Rafale deal.

The delegation comprising of leaders Gulam Nabi Azad, Anand Sharma, Kapil Sibal, Randeep Singh Surjewala, Jairam Ramesh, Abhishek Manu Singhvi, Manish Tiwari, Viveka Tankha, Pramod Tiwari, Pranav Jha met CVC KV Chowdary and submitted a detailed memorandum to “take cognizance to seize all files and documents to register an FIR”.

Details :

Speaking on the demand, senior Congress leader, Anand Sharman said, ”A delegation of Congress leadership has met the CVC. We have submitted a detailed memorandum on the Rafale Deal purchase scam, which has global ramifications. It is the biggest scam in the defence acquisition history of the country.”

“The fact is that this was arbitrary decision of the Prime Minister of India. Who without any mandate from the Cabinet Committee on Security, decided to do away with 3 important things. Of the original tender of purchase of 126 planes, transfer of technology, HAL was the partner of the manufacturer of 108 planes & more importantly, the brute price of 526 crores that went upto 1670 crores”. Anand Sharman added

Few days back, the Congress leadership had approached the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and demanded probe in the Rafale jet deal.

Congress has alleged corruption by Modi government for buying 36 Rafale fighter jet from France’s Dassault Aviation by paying higher price than what was negotiated by the UPA government is to ‘protect the interest of particular business groups’.

The controversy escalated after former French President Francois Hollande stated that Indian government had suggested Anil Ambani led Reliance Defence as the offset partner in the deal. While the government has denied any wrong doing in selecting Mr.Ambani as offset partner & said it has no role.
