Congress alleges irregularities in Health, Electricity Dept recruitment exams, demands probe

Panaji, Jan 17 (IECurrentAffairs) The Congress in Goa on Thursday alleged that there were irregularities in the recruitment examinations held in Health and Electricity Departments in the state and demanded that an investigation be ordered by Crime Branch of Goa Police.

Addressing a press conference at party state headquarter in the city, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar also alleged that question and answer papers of the examination were manipulated doing injustice with the students.

”Question and answer papers are being manipulated, injustice is being done with students. Meritorious students are not being selected but those who give money or are close to ministers are getting selected. If it is not so then how majority of the students selected in Health Department Examination are from Valpoi constituency, same way how students from Curchorem constituencies are passing electricity department examinations?. So this is nothing but Vyapam (a recruitment scam in Madhya Pradesh) in Goa,” he said.

While Curchorem constituency is represented by State Power Minister Nilesh Cabral, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane is an MLA from Valpoi.

Mr Chodankar demanded that Crime Branch of Goa Police immediately seize all the documents related to entire process of the recruitment, question papers, answer papers and said if police failed to do so then youth wing of the party would lodge a formal complaint.

”We expect that the government will take quick action as ministers have started working independently and corruption is galore in all the departments,” he said.
