Amabassa (Tripura), Dec 02 (IECurrentAffairs) Tension geared up for the bye-election of the urban bodies as the candidate and proposer from Congress have allegedly been attacked by the BJP miscreants though the Minister Manoj Kanti Deb has denied the allegation in bordering subdivision of Kamalpur in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai here last night.
According to the complaint lodged with police, the proposer for the Congress candidate of ward number 5, identified as Sandip Bhowmik has been attacked by some unknown miscreants at around 11 pm at his residence. The attackers have broken glass bottles on his head and he receives severe injuries. With several stitches in his head he is now under treatment at district hospital.
In another incident, Congress candidate for ward number 02 identified as Kalyani Singh has been attacked at her residence at around 11-30 pm. The miscreants have broken her door and beaten her and her husband. Hearing the hue and cry, on duty police have rushed to the spot and the attackers have fled. Kalyani Singh in her complaint has mentioned about two known miscreants and four more unknown miscreants.
The local Congress leadership have alleged BJP for the attack and destroying democracy.
However, when asked over telephone, Minister from this area Manoj Kanti Deb has denied the allegation and remarked, “BJP never believes in violence. The victims should knock the administration and the administration will surely adopt measures.
