New Delhi, Feb 7 (IECurrentAffairs) The BJP lawmaker Nishikant Dubey on Thursday directed his tirade against West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee for sitting on a ‘Dharna’ in support of Kolkata police commissioner Rajeev Kumar and said the chit fund scams in the state thrived due to the nexus of politicians, bureaucrat and media persons.
Raising the issue during Zero Hour, he said several important leaders including sitting MPs of her party were arrested in the past but the Chief Minister had never staged such protest sitting.
“The fact that she sat on a Dharna in support of a bureaucrat talks about the illicit nexus and also reflect the fact that the concerned bureaucrat knows a lot about the scams,” he said in reference to Rajeev Kumar without taking any name.
Mr Dubey maintained the chit fund scams thrived after 2011 as many wrong doers believed those in power were “with them”.
In this context, he quoted a popular Hindi saying – “Saiyan bhae Kotwal, ab dar kaisa (When the top cops are friends, nothing to be afraid of)”.
He said the evil impact of chit fund scams have affected people even in his state of Jharkhand.
Trinamool Congress members led by Kalyan Banerjee were up on their feet protesting some of the remarks from the BJP member.
A major political row was sparked off on Sunday after Kolkata police prevented a CBI team to enter the official residence of the police commissioner and the Chief Minister later sat on a Dharna.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed CBI to question the police chief Rajeev Kumar and also said he can make himself available at Shillong and cooperate with the probe agency
