Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur visits flood and snowfall hit areas in Himachal

Shimla, Sep 25 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday visited the flood hit and snowfall affected Lahaul Spiti areas and discussed the rehabilitation works launched by district administration.

Kullu, Lahaul Spiti and Chamba were worst affected by the heavy rainfall and government would seek assistance of the Centre for relief packages, he said.

The Union home Minister Rajnath Singh and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman provided the quick relief by deploying two Indian Airforce helicopters, the Chief Minister further said.

He said that IAF was conducting “recce” in the snow affected areas to rescue the marooned people on the snow passes and other tribal snowbound road and other places.

The Chief Minister further said that maximum loss and damage occurred to the roads and all the roads likely to be restored within five days.

He said that power supply would take some time but the water schemes would be restored within three days in Kullu district.

He futher said that State government demanded immediate relief of Rs 200 Crore from the Centre and state government would release Rs 30 Crore to affected areas.
