Panjim, Goa (IENews) In a not so surprising development political leaders across party lines from the Bhandari Samaj held a meeting in Porvorim and resolved to appoint the next chief minister of the state from the Bhandari community.
The political leaders from the ruling BJP and alliance partners, Congress current and past met to discuss the need for ensuring that the next chief minister of the state is not from another caste but from the Bhandari Samaj which is the largest caste community in the state.
Sources who were in attendance to the meeting told IndianExpose.com that it was time that Goa has a chief minister from the Bhandari community and not from another community in particular from the Saraswat Brahmin communities.
The clash between the Bhandari Samaj and Saraswat Brahmins is not a hidden matter in the state. Over the last few years its has been the Saraswat Brahmins that have been occupying the chief minister’s chair. Now many in the community feel its time for the Bhandari community to have its leader at the helm of affairs.
