BJP chief Shah to stage roadshow in Udaipur, address three rallies in Rajasthan

New Delhi, Nov 27 (IECurrentAffairs) About 10 days to go for the crucial assembly elections in Rajasthan, the BJP chief Amit Shah has geared up for full steam campaign in the state on Tuesday.

According to party sources here, the BJP national president will address public meetings at Jalore, Sirohi and Pali.

Mr Shah will also stage a roadshow Town Hall to Bank Chauraha in Udaipur.

Udaipur is a key and politically sensitive hub in the Rajput-dominated Chittoragarh and Mewar districts – wherein the saffron party is apprehensive of upper castes backlash vis-a-vis Prevention of Atrocities SC-ST Act.

Rajasthan goes to the polls on December 7 along with Telangana.

Meanwhile, the elections will be held on Wednesday, November 28 to elect the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly and 40-member Mizoram state legislature.

The BJP is in power in Madhya Pradesh since 2003 and in Mizoram the Congress is in power under party veteran Lal Thanhawla since 2008.

In Mizoram, of the 1,179 polling stations, 32 polling stations are declared as critical. There have been special arrangements to ensure voting by the Bru or Reang refugees residing in camps in Tripura.

The state’s ruling Congress, BJP, Mizo National Front and the nascent Zoram Peoples’ Movement are the main contestant for the elections.

In Madhya Pradesh, the main contest is between the ruling BJP and opposition Congress.

About 650 companies of Central Security Forces have been deployed for peaceful voting.
