#ArrestBishopFranco: Nun who testified against Bishop held captive in convent

Kochi: Sister Lissie Kurian who testified against Bishop Franco Mulakkal in the case of the rape of a 44-year old nun currently under investigation, was released by the police from the Jeevajyoti Convent in Vazhappilly where she is held captive according to a complaint filed by her relatives with the local police.

Sister Lissie Kurian’s brother Jimmy Kurian filed a complaint with the local police that his sister was held captive in the convent with no communication with the outside world and has been receiving life threats.

The police has registered a case. They have also taken a statement of Sr Lissie and have produced her before court. Investigations into the case continues.

Bishop Franco Mulakkal is the first Bishop in India to be arrested on accusations of rape and sodomy.
