Jalandhar, Oct 23 (IENews) The Archdiocese of Jalandhar has unknowingly exposed the lies of the Vatican in its claims that the accused rapist Bishop Franco Mulakkal has been temporarily relieved from the pastoral duties of a Bishop.
In a letter issued by the Archdiocese of Jalandhar, offering condolences to the deceased Fr Kuriakose Kuttuthara’s family and also a part of its statement on the mysterious death, it reads, “Bishop Franco Mulakkal and Bishop Agnelo Gracias have expressed sadness over the sudden demise of Fr. Kuriakose Kattuthara. He was found dead in his personal room in the morning of 22nd October 2018. He was staying in the priest house of Dasuya, Tanda Deanery, Hoshiarpur District. He was born on 9th July 1957. He was ordained on 29th March 1983. He has served in the Diocese of Jalandhar in various capacities as Parish Priest, Professor, Director, Chaplin to convents etc. He was instrumental in preparing the Punjabi Missal for the locdaal Church. His sudden death has left a big sorrow to the Jalandhar Presbyterium and Religious Men and Women and People of God. Hearty Condolences.”
Now it is interesting to note that letter categorically states, ‘Bishop Franco Mulakkal’.
It is known fact that one of the legal strategy adopted by the legal advisors of the accused rapist Bishop Franco Mulakkal was to show the Kerala High Court that Bishop is no longer holding any pastoral role or duties and that he has been temporarily being relieved of it by the Vatican until conclusion of investigations. This is one the prime reasons mooted as grounds of granting conditional bail.
The logic put forth before the High Court by the legal defence was that, “Bishop Franco Mulakkal is no longer a Bishop, therefore he cannot influence any investigations.”
Fr Kuriakose was one of the prime witness in the case of the nun who has accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal of rape and sodomy 13 times between 2014 and 2016. He was mentally tortured and he even told his family and other priests that if Bishop Franco Mulakkal was granted bail, he would be a dead man. He is now dead mysteriously.
Catholic Church of India continues to state that the Bishop is temporarily suspended of the his pastoral duties, but its fails to answer why then does a condolence message goes out from the Archdiocese of Jalandhar with his title Bishop Franco Mulakkal.
