Akhilesh Yadav detained at Lucknow airport on his way to Prayagraj

Lucknow, Feb 12 (IECurrentAffairs) Uttar Pradesh authorities have stopped Samajwadi Party President Akhikesh Yadav from going to Prayagraj at the Lucknow airport on Tuesday leading to wide range of agitation by the party workers.

Akhilesh was going to Prayagraj, to attend the Allahabad University Union function and a felicitation function by Akhara Parishad.

Prayagraj authorities have expressed law and order problem on the proposed visit of SP president which led to the detention of the leader.

Police official confirmed here that Akhilesh was not allowed to board the aircraft, for going to Prayagraj.

Later, Mr Yadav stayed at the VVIP room at the airport.

SP leader Sunil Singh Sajan told UNI that state wide agitation would be launched against the decision of the government.

Due to the detention, both the state assembly and the legislative council, witnessed pandemonium and was adjourned.
