New Delhi, Oct 21 (IECurrentAffairs) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday kicked off party’s door-to-door campaign for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections from New Delhi constituency.
During the campaign, Mr Kejriwal sought votes for AAP in the upcoming LS polls, and also appealed people to donate to his party to fight the elections.
Talking to reporters on the beginning of the door to door campaign, the AAP supremo said, ” From today, in entire Delhi, we are starting door to door campaign. AAP’s 3000 team will visit every household for the next four months, seeking votes and donation for the party.”
Clearing the main objective behind such campaign, Mr Kejriwal said, if his party takes donations from industrialists then he have to work for them but as the party is taking donations from the public, he will work for them.
“If I take thousand crores from Adani and Ambani. What would be its use? I would have respected them. I would not have done this door to door campaign. I respect voters . So we are seeking donations and we will work for them,” he said.
Mr Kejriwal, who is also the Delhi Chief Minister, accused the seven BJP MPs of the city of stalling pro-people work of the Delhi Government through Lieutenant Governor.
“Seven BJP MPs elected in last Lok Sabha polls. What they have done for the people? Not even a single work. They did not allow to install CCTV cameras, and Mohalla Clinic, through LG and created hindrances, ” he alleged.
Mr Kejriwal said if seven MPs get elected from his party in the upcoming LS polls, then work can be done in a better way in coordination with Delhi Government.
“This time it is not sure who is going to be the next Prime Minister. Whoever becomes PM, we will get the work done,” he stated.
The Chief Minister also claimed that people are happy with Delhi Government’s work, specially in the field of education, health, electricity and water.
Earlier in the day, his party posted a fourteen seconds video on micro-blogging site Twitter in which Mr Kejriwal has appealed people to donate to the party.
“Delhi Government is working with honesty. AAP is run by your donation and we need money to fight election. Whatever possible, you donate so that we can work with honesty,” Mr Kejriwal stated in his video.
In the post, the party also shared a number 9871010101 where one can give missed call to donate or visit myaap.in.
In view of the upcoming elections, the party appealed to the people to donate any amount which they like ranging from Rs 100, Rs 1,000 or Rs 10000 every month.
