Chandigarh, Nov 3 (IECurrentAffairs) Reportedly sixteen girls of a government school in Punjab were strip searched by teachers.
The girls were stripped to check which one of the girl was wearing a sanitary pad; after a soiled pad was found discarded in the school toilet.
The girls were from the seventh and eight standard of the school.
Humiliated and shocked by the behaviour of the teachers, the girls complained about the matter to their parents.
The parents approached the school authorities demanding action against the teachers responsible for the act of strip searching the girls.
The Amarinder Singh government in Punjab has taken cognisance of the matter and initiated an inquiry.
Two teachers from the school have been transferred and one teacher has gone into hiding.
Education secretary Krishan Kumar has been instructed to complete the investigation by Monday and submit a report.
